The Story
I spent 18 years at Severn Trent Water — one of the UK's largest water and wastewater companies — working across distribution, operations, capital delivery and group transformation. I was recruited into the sector by the person who is now CEO of Severn Trent. During those 18 years I worked alongside people who now run water companies across the UK, sit on their executive boards, and lead the sector's independent regulators.
Colleagues from my time at Severn Trent are now Chief Executives and Chief Financial Officers at water companies, Directors of major operational programmes, and senior figures at the Consumer Council for Water — the independent watchdog for the water industry in England and Wales. I didn't build a network by attending conferences. I built it by doing the job, for nearly two decades, alongside the people who now run the sector.
Which means when I say this platform is built on genuine sector knowledge, I mean something specific. I understand how water companies make procurement decisions because I was in the rooms where those decisions were made. I know what the supply chain needs to hear — and when — because I've spent 18 years watching good companies miss opportunities they didn't know existed.
The water sector is opaque. Tender notices appear and disappear. Frameworks are awarded quietly. Capital programmes are announced in regulatory submissions that most suppliers never read. The information exists — it's scattered across Find a Tender, 17 different water company procurement portals, trade press and LinkedIn. Nobody was pulling it together in one place, curated for the people who need it most.
So I built Water Industry Hub. Not an algorithm, not an AI scraper, not a generic tender alert service. A curated intelligence platform built on 18 years of genuine sector relationships — with a directory of 7,784+ verified UK water sector suppliers, real-time tender notifications, framework expiry tracking and the kind of procurement insight that only comes from having been inside.
"I spent 18 years inside Severn Trent Water, recruited by someone who now leads the business. The colleagues I worked alongside now run water companies and lead the sector's independent regulators. This platform is built on those relationships — and guided by former regulatory leadership. That credibility runs through everything we publish."
The Network Behind the Platform
Water Industry Hub is built on 18 years of genuine relationships inside the UK water sector. Colleagues from Severn Trent are now Chief Executives and Chief Financial Officers at water companies, Directors overseeing multi-billion-pound AMP8 capital programmes, and senior leaders at the Consumer Council for Water — the independent statutory watchdog for the UK water industry in England and Wales.
Most significantly, the platform is guided by former regulatory leadership with direct experience at the highest levels of UK water sector oversight — bringing regulatory intelligence, consumer advocacy experience and deep sector relationships to the platform from day one. Water Industry Hub has credibility on both sides of the industry: from the companies that spend, and from those who hold them to account.
That network matters because it informs the intelligence. When a framework is awarded, a senior appointment is made, or a procurement strategy shifts, the people closest to those decisions are people I have worked alongside. Water Industry Hub reflects that — the intelligence on this platform is curated by someone with genuine sector relationships, not assembled by an algorithm scraping public notices.
Why AMP8 Makes This More Important Than Ever
The UK water sector is in the middle of the largest capital investment programme in its history. £104 billion committed across 2025-30. United Utilities requesting £1.4bn more through the reopener mechanism. Severn Trent seeking a further £600m. Storm overflow improvements across nearly 14,000 sites. Smart meter rollouts at every water company. The Section 82 CWQM sensor programme. Net zero targets with a 2030 deadline.
The supply chain opportunity is extraordinary — but only if you know where to look and when. That is what Water Industry Hub exists to do.
